Candle Care Guide
Proper care of your candles and wax melts is essential to ensure they burn beautifully, safely, and last longer. This guide provides simple yet effective instructions on how to care for your products from Anchor & Ember, making your candle experience more enjoyable and worry-free.
Trimming the Wick
One of the simplest yet most crucial steps in candle care is keeping the wick trimmed to about 4mm before each burn. A shorter wick helps to control the size of the flame, which prevents soot and ensures a cleaner burn. Additionally, a trimmed wick reduces the risk of the candle burning too quickly and unevenly. Proper trimming also contributes to a more pleasant fragrance throw, allowing you to enjoy the scent of your candle to its fullest. Make it a habit to trim your wick before lighting your candle, and you’ll extend its lifespan while enhancing your overall experience.
Burning Safely
Safety should always be a priority when burning candles. To ensure a safe burning experience, never leave your candle unattended, especially around children and pets. Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flammable materials, and anything else that could catch fire.
Candles have memories and the first burn is the most important. The first burn should be for at least 2 hours to allow the melt pool to reach the edge of the pot, this will prevent your candle from tunnelling as you continue to burn it.
Additionally, be mindful of the burn time; we recommend not exceeding 4 hours for any single burn session, allowing the candle to cool before relighting it to prevent overheating.
Storing Your Candles
Proper storage of your candles is vital for preserving their scent and appearance. When storing candles, keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as exposure can cause the wax to discolour and the fragrance to fade.
For your wax melts, ensure they are kept in a sealed bag or container to prevent them from absorbing unwanted scents.
Following these storage tips will help ensure that your candles and wax melts remain in pristine condition, ready for your next relaxing moment.
